Is Grow & Tell free?

Yes. Exploring strains, reading grow journals, and keeping your own journals are all free. There's an optional Premium tier for growers who want extras.

Do I need an account to look around?

No. You can browse the lineage explorer and read journals without signing in. An account is needed to keep a journal, comment, follow growers, favorite, or report content.

What's the difference between a grower and a breeder account?

Growers log their grows as journals. Breeders are verified accounts that can publish strains into the catalog and claim credit for their genetics. Learn about breeder accounts →

Do I have to be 21?

Yes — you must be at least 21 (or the legal age where you live) to use the site.

How do I start a grow journal?

From your grower dashboard, choose “Start a journal,” pick the strain you're running, then add a weekly entry as your journal progresses.

Who can see my journals and photos?

Journals are public — anyone can read them, which is what makes the community useful. Only you can edit or delete your own journal.

Does my photo's location data get stored?

No. Every uploaded photo is re-encoded and stripped of its EXIF metadata — including any GPS coordinates — before it's stored. Your phone's location data doesn't survive the upload.

Can I choose which photo represents my grow?

Yes — set a cover photo for your journal (you'll be prompted during the harvest wrap-up, and it becomes the headline image everywhere your journal appears).

How do badges work?

You earn badges for taking part — for example, Early Adopter for being one of the first 100 members, and Historian for having 5+ strain corrections approved. You pick which earned badge shows next to your handle in Settings.

Can I hide my badge?

Yes — set your displayed badge to “None” in Settings and nothing shows next to your name.

What does Premium include?

Phenotype hunting (tracking multiple plants from one grow), shareable QR codes that link to your journals, a sort boost on your journals, and an ad-free experience. It's monthly or annual, and the core site stays free. Details →

A strain's lineage or info looks wrong — can I fix it?

Use “Suggest a correction” on the strain's page. An admin reviews every submission. Approving a correction doesn't auto-edit the strain — a human makes the actual change, so anonymous input can't quietly rewrite the data.

Why is a strain listed without its breeder?

Strain and lineage information is a public reference. A strain can be listed from publicly available genetic info even when its breeder isn't a participant here — a listing isn't an endorsement or a commercial relationship.

How do I report content?

Every journal, weekly entry, and comment has a Report button. Pick a reason — spam or scam, explicit or inappropriate, harassment or abuse, off-topic, or something else — and add an optional note. You'll need to be signed in so we can follow up if we have questions. Reports land in a moderation review queue that an admin works through, and we may hide or remove anything that breaks the Terms. Someone posted my copyrighted photo or writing — how do I get it removed?

That's a copyright takedown, handled separately from regular reports. See the DMCA / Takedown page — it walks through exactly what to put in a notice, what we do when we receive a valid one, and how to file a counter-notice if your content was taken down by mistake. For anything that isn't a copyright issue — harassment, doxing, non-consensual imagery — use the Report button or email us instead.

How do follows and notifications work?

Follow a grower or a journal to get notified of new activity, like fresh weekly entries. Your notification bell collects comments, follows, mentions, and grow reminders.

Are the “buy seeds” links affiliate links?

Some are. Where there's an affiliate relationship we may earn a small commission on a sale — it never changes the price you pay, and we send you wherever the breeder told us to (we don't rewrite destinations). More in About.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell your data and we don't use third-party advertising/analytics trackers. See the Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes — there's a “Delete account” button in Settings. It removes your journals, comments, follows, and favorites. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
